Multi Community Diversified Services, Inc. (MCDS) is a non-profit organization which has provided case management, residential and community assistance, vocational training and supported employment services to individuals with disabilities in McPherson and the surrounding areas for over 43 years.
The name, “Ride for Independence”, ties together the idea of helping people with disabilities become more independent to the independent spirit of many motorcycle riders and enthusiasts.
All proceeds from the Poker Run will be used to support the MCDS mission of promoting community inclusion and employment opportunities for people with disabilities.
Ride For Independence MCDS Poker Run
Registration to ride in the Poker Run includes an event t-shirt (while supplies last) and a poker hand; which can be entered at the final stop for a chance to win a cash prize. Enter the bug splatter competition and a chance to win the 50/50 pot.
This year riders will begin at the MCDS Corporate Offices located at 2107 Industrial Drive, McPherson. The route will cover over 119 miles through McPherson and Harvey county. All registered riders must be over 18 years old to participate.
Along the route, riders will stop at five locations, collecting playing cards in order to build the best or worst, five-card hand.
Riders have the option to purchase an additional hand for $10 per hand. At the last stop, riders will have the option to purchase one additional “playing card” to create a better hand for an additional $10.
Once at the last stop, riders will be able to enter the five-card hand they built for a chance to win a cash prize. The rider with the best hand will win $500 cash and $250 cash will be awarded to the rider with the worst hand. Light snacks and beverages will be available to purchase at the end of the ride. The final route will be posted to Facebook by June 25, 2017.
