Those who can, do.

Those who can do more, Volunteer

Volunteers

Why should I volunteer? BECAUSE WE NEED YOU! We need your skills, your energy and your caring to enrich the services MCDS provides. Volunteering offers opportunities to meet new people, allows exploration of new career opportunities, develops individual creativity, provides the reward of helping others....and it's FUN!

If you are over 18 years of age and older you can volunteer.  Through MCDS, enthusiastic families and groups can pick one or more volunteer opportunities which meet their personal goals and interests for volunteering.

There are numerous volunteer opportunities available.

  • Arts and Crafts Demonstrator: Share a skill or hobby with a small group of persons served.
  • Cooking Instructor: Visit a group home setting and instruct persons served and/or staff in how to use a simple recipe.
  • Companionship Volunteer: Assist staff in spending "quality time" with persons served.
  • Community Companion: Assist staff in loading and unloading vehicles and accompany staff and persons served on outings.
  • Special Project Support: Assist staff in completing projects for special events.
  • Garden and Grounds Maintenance: Help staff and persons served plan, start and maintain a garden at a group home, and assist in general grounds maintenance.
